Learning and Development...
United knows that children and young people looked after by foster carers may have a highly complex set of needs due to the trauma experienced before coming into care. There is a corresponding increased demand for foster carers to meet these needs, and therefore defined learning and development framework for the foster carer is significant to help address this.
United is committed to supporting and enabling foster carers to grow and develop through varied and comprehensive Learning and Development opportunities. United provide an extensive range of training to benefit and develop children of all ages. Whether you want to gain new qualifications or be trained to enhance your fostering skills further, our training will help you build on the qualities, skills and life experiences you may already have.
Foster Carers won’t need any previous training or formal qualifications to foster, but you will need to be prepared to learn new things.
United treat and train Foster Carers as professionals with the tools to build strong relationships with foster children and to adapt their skills to think therapeutically in their approach to foster parenting.
At United, we want you to feel secure and confident in your work. We will work with you to identify training to meet your needs, your foster children and your family’s.
United, provides membership for each Fostering household to the Fostering Network organisation that provides a range of information and services to Carers and others involved in looking after children and young people.
