One of our goals is to deliver permanence and placement stability, as this will enable children to grow and develop into healthy adults. We know through research that placement instability reduces a child’s opportunities to develop secure attachments. It may also exacerbate any existing behavioral and emotional difficulties. (Schofield and Beek, 2005)
At United, we believe that careful matching between children and foster carers is a significant factor in terms of stability and permanence. We ensure that children should be matched with an appropriate foster family capable of meeting their needs. We promote the team around the child approach and good communication, we ensure that our foster carers have adequate information about the child’s needs and long-term plans. We practice NEEDS led approach not RESOURCE led approach in matching children with our foster families.
