Therapeutic fostering is a specialist type of fostering, designed to support children and young people who have experienced trauma prior to being placed in care.
At United we believe in a truly therapeutic approach and invest in developing highly skilled Therapeutic Foster Carers. Through a therapeutic parenting approach, our Foster families are able to offer our children the essential relational family environment and healing opportunity that they have missed.
We believe that therapeutic foster care should enable children and young people to get to know who they are, so they can grow to reach their emotional, social and educational potential, and live in harmony with themselves and others.
Therapeutic Foster Care Training and Support
You don’t need to be experienced in therapeutic fostering to join United. We have a number of years’ experience in therapeutic foster care, we pride ourselves on delivering a first-class training programme and ongoing professional development.
By placing children with carefully matched, therapeutically trained Foster families, we aim for our children to be given a healing experience that will help them to recover from the trauma that they have endured. As a United Foster Carer you will be supported by a team of Supervising Social Workers, who along with our experienced Therapeutic Practitioner, support workers to provide a complete support network to help you every step of the way.
